What is a Transfer Student?
A transfer student is any individual who has completed college or university coursework at another institution after high school graduation. This does NOT include students who have taken dual credit in high school or a single course at a postsecondary institution while in high school (e.g., CNA course) prior to beginning full-time college enrollment.

As a general rule, the Traditional Prelicensure BSN Program at EIU does not accept transfer students into the nursing curriculum once they have begun college/university coursework at another institution. This policy is in place due to the unique structure of our program, which makes it difficult for transfer students to maintain timely progression toward graduation. Key characteristics of the program relevant to transfer students:

Transferring can result in delays in progression and graduation, often extending a student’s plan of study unnecessarily.
