Subject: Share Your EIU Experience: Academic Belonging Survey
Dear Fellow Panther,
You are invited to take part in a research study about academic belonging—how connected students feel to their learning, persistence, and success at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ. This includes feeling accepted, valued, and supported by faculty, staff, peers, and the university as a whole.
This survey is part of a study led by Dr. Michael Gillespie, Dean of Student Success, to better understand how EIU students experience belonging across their educational journey. Your input will help identify ways the university can strengthen student engagement, learning, and support services.
If you agree to participate, you’ll be asked to complete an online questionnaire that takes about 15–20 minutes. It includes no more than 80 questions about your academic belonging and sense of connection at EIU.
Some questions may feel personal or emotional as you reflect on your experiences. You can skip any question or stop the survey at any time. After you finish, you’ll receive a list of EIU support and success resources, including contact information for the EIU Counseling Center, if you’d like to speak with someone.
Your responses are completely anonymous—no names, email addresses, or identifying information will be collected. Your participation is voluntary, and there is no compensation or academic credit for taking part.
