Overview

ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ offers a program leading to a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in clinical laboratory science (formerly medical technology). The CLS degree program consists of three years (90 semester hours) of regular college courses at EIU, followed by a period of clinical training (32 hours) in an affiliated hospital laboratory. The courses taken at the affiliated hospitals are EIU courses and therefore are entered on a student's transcript.

Upon successful completion of the hospital work, the student becomes a candidate for a college degree and is eligible to take the certifying examinations of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists for registry as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. The program is a good foundation for students wanting to pursue graduate work in forensic science.
