INTRODUCTION
Amanda Harvey is a faculty member and Academic Advisor in the Department of Public Health and Nutrition at ÌÇÐÄÊÓÆµ (EIU). She earned two bachelor's degrees from EIU—a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology—before completing a Master of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences. In 2025, she earned her Doctorate in Health Sciences from A.T. Still University.
Dr. Harvey’s research focuses on women’s health and miscarriage support systems, bystander intervention, health promotion and communication, and sexual health. She is particularly interested in how individuals and communities engage with health-related information and strategies that promote positive health behaviors.
At EIU, Dr. Harvey teaches a variety of courses, including Research Methods, Women’s Health, Human Health, Community Health, Health Program Planning, and Motivational Interviewing. As an advisor, she supports student success and enjoys seeing students find their career path.
Dr. Harvey is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and a trained Mental Health First Aid instructor. She is passionate about equipping students with the skills to promote health, address disparities, and support well-being in diverse communities.
